Claire Helen Mongin Bauer
Claire Helen Mongin Bauer passed away unexpectedly on Friday, the 19th of February in Reno, Nevada. She was born on October 12th, 1944 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to John and Helen Mongin. After attending school in Green Bay, she married Peter J. Bauer, also of Green Bay, in Pensacola, Florida. As a new Navy wife, she enjoyed traveling the country extensively for his twenty-six years of service. Along the journey, they had three daughters. Renee’, the first, was
born in Pensacola, Florida. After another cross-country move, Lisa was born in Orange, California. Their last daughter Cheryl, was born two moves later, in Oak Harbor, Washington. Claire touched the lives of many people in the Carson Valley, Nevada area where she has lived and worked for the last twenty seven years. She spread joy and smiles wherever she went and loved to swim with her friends, hike and fish with her children in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains, quilt, play bunco, and tour the California wine country. Claire gave her time and boundless energy to her church and local hospital. She treasured time spent with her five grandchildren and one great-grandson, who all
adored her. Claire lived life to the fullest, and was surrounded by her family as she slipped peacefully into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Claire is survived by her beloved husband, Peter J. Bauer in Gardnerville, Nevada.
Their fifty-one year marriage has inspired us all. She is also survived by her daughter Renee’ Whitney and husband Chris of Reno, Nevada and her son Ryan; Lisa Bauer Hoffman and her husband Guy, of Houston ,Texas, and their daughters Erica and Claire; and Cheryl Symonds and her husband Curtis of Lemoore, California, and their sons Curtis Jr. and Derek. Claire is also survived by her brother Steven Mongin and his wife Becky of St Paul, Minnesota, and her brother Patrick Mongin and his wife Sandy of Green Bay, Wisconsin. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who live throughout the country, and Australia. Lastly, Claire was preceded in death by both her parents and is survived by her mother-in-law, Jayne Bauer, who still lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin. We will all miss her joyful soul and beautiful smile, but know her spirit will always be with us. A Celebration of Life service will be held at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville, Nevada on Saturday, March 19th at 11:30 a.m. The family requests that any donations be directed to the American Heart Association in her name.
