Marvin Daniel Higday

May 27, 1957 - May 16,2025

Marvin Daniel Higday, lovingly known as “Papa Marv” and affectionately nicknamed “Starvin
Marvin,” passed away on May 16, 2025, just shy of his 68th birthday. He will be deeply
missed by all who knew and loved him.

Marvin was born in Fresno, California, on May 27, 1957. In 1969, he moved with his parents
to Dayton, Nevada, where he spent the majority of his life. He graduated from Dayton High
School in 1975.

In 1976, Marvin married his first wife, Cheryl, and together they had three children. He later
married his second wife, Lori, in 1986, and they also had three children.

Marvin was a hard worker who entered the construction trade right out of high school. Over the years, he honed his skills in fencing, excavation, and cabinetry. His hobby was building neat pieces of furniture as gifts for his family, a creative outlet that brought joy to both him and his loved ones. Near the end of his career, Marvin took great pride in working alongside his oldest son, Kyle, and Kyle’s business partner. He played a major role in helping them build their construction company from the ground up. Marvin always took pride in helping his kids in any way he could—it was something that brought him real joy and purpose.

Known for his sharp humor and quick wit, Marvin was the funniest person in any room. You could always count on him to crack a joke or lighten the mood—even during tough times. He
was always incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren. His love was constant, quiet, and deeply felt.

Marvin deeply valued his friendships as well, especially his lifelong friendship with his best
friend Ken, who stood by his side through decades of memories, laughter, and support.

Marvin’s presence will be missed more than words can express. His legacy lives on in the
people he loved and the many laughs he left behind.

He is survived by his children: Kyle, Kevin, Cymberlee, Marvin II, Thomas, and Dylan;
daughters-in-law: Jessica and Crystal; his grandchildren: Kyle Jr., Jenna, Bryan, Conner,
Dakota, Emilee, Naomi, Olivia, and Mykah; and his great-grandchildren: Elainey, Everley, Tirjikai, and Azena. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

A celebration of life is to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a good laugh, a fond memory, or a story about the man who meant so much to so many.
