Donna Hancock

September 26, 1933 - December 31,2024

Donna was born on September 26, 1933, in Marine City, Michigan and died on December 31, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. She was the second of three children born to Marvin and Lydia Bandlow Kaufman. She attended school in Marine City, Michigan and graduated in 1951 with Honors. After graduation, the family moved to El Cajon, California where she took a position working for Civil Service for the Eleventh Naval District in San Diego. She was the administrative assistant/secretary in the Legal/Real Estate Division. It was there she met her future husband William “Bill” Hancock, who was a Naval Officer stationed in the district. They were married November 20th, 1954, at the Little Chapel of the Roses in Chula Vista, California. Soon thereafter, they moved to
Carson City, Nevada.

In Carson, she was employed by the Clerk of the Supreme Court for several years. She worked for Carson-Tahoe Hospital as a secretary in the Education Department for 15 years, retiring in 1990. During that time and thereafter, she volunteered at the hospital for 45 years. In addition, she was employed by the Nevada Legislature as an attaché/secretary for 9 biennial sessions. She was also fortunate to have worked for the Carson City Clerk/Recorder’s Office during early voting and regular election voting.

Donna was a “people” person, who loved meeting and working with “friends”, both new and old, throughout her professional and volunteer career. She was also an avid reader from her early childhood and particularly enjoyed reading while taking her early morning walks around Winnie Lane in Carson. She carried a book wherever she went.

Donna was preceded in death by her brother Delbert, her husband Bill, and her son Jeffrey. She is survived by her sister Deanna and her husband Jim Hinson; Son Jay and his wife Brenda; Daughter-in-law Stacey Hancock; Grandchildren Greer, Alexander, and Heidi; Great-grandchildren Harper, Paytynn, and Maizee.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, January 17, 2025, at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.
