Richard Rolland Edwards, aged 78, passed away on April 7, 2023. He died peacefully
in his sleep with his devoted wife at his side.
Richard was born on March 18, 1945 in Berkeley, CA. His happy parents were Rolland Bert Edwards and Edith Laberta Osborn Edwards. He graduated from Albany High School in Albany, CA. Richard went on to join the US Navy. Richard and LaVonne’s wedding date was June 16, 1968.
During his working years, he worked for the Navy, Ford Motor Co, and restaurant manager for places like Sambo’s, Foster’s Freeze, Taco Bell and Carl’s Jr. He and his wife, LaVonne Edwards also built and ran their adorable restaurant, Mother Hubbard’s Kitchen.in Cardiff by the Sea.
Upon moving to Carson City, Richard worked for the Carson City School District and became a super friendly greeter for Wal Mart.
Richard is survived by his wife, LaVonne, and his 2 sisters Diane and Lillian. His large family includes children Marc, Kim and Sarah, his grandchildren Emily, Kaylie, Dominick, Jessice, Desmond and De’Shawn. He also left behind 4 great grandchildren...Asher, Ni’Khia, Jayla and Layla.
Richard was preceded in his death by his parents Rolland and Edith as well as his niece, Linda Mijack.
Services for Richard will be on Friday June 9, beginning at 10:30am at St Theresa of Avila’s Church in Carson City. A slide show will precede the Mass which starts at 11am . A reception will follow . All are invited to attend.
