Gordon Wesley Zumwalt, 77, was born April 27, 1945 in Ely, Nevada to Christopher Zumwalt and Pietrina Damele Zumwalt. Gordon died from brain cancer on January 27, 2023. He was raised at the Three Bar Ranch in Eureka County and attended Eureka County schools graduating in 1963.
He was a Vietnam Veteran who had a 43-year career in banking.
In 1969, he married Mona Dillard. Gordon’s career took them to towns across Nevada where they met many lifelong friends. They finally settled in Carson Valley.
Gordon was known for his infectious smile and quiet temperament. His passion was exploring the outdoors in his Polaris RZR.
He is survived by his wife, Mona, his sister Crystal DeMasters of Winston, Oregon, and many nieces and nephews. His parents and his brother, Tilton Zunwalt, preceded him in death.
Interment will be at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
