Cecil “Larry” Lloyd Cooper U.S. Veteran

Cecil Lloyd (Larry) Cooper, age 93 passed away January, 26, 2023 in Carson City, NV. Born April 11, 1929, Idaho Falls, ID to Basil and Ardelle Hawker Cooper. Preceded in death by wife Gladys Cooper, brothers Dell Cooper, Glenn Phillips, George Phillips, daughter Sheryl Woodward (Bill), son Neil Bruce (Butch) Cooper (Kimberly), grandson Bruce Cooper. Survived by Sherry Smith, Boise, ID, Lawrence Cooper, WA, Kim Cooper, Boise, ID, Lenita Schofield, Carson City, NV, daughter-in-law Kimberly Cooper, Tahoe City, CA, Terry Phillips, Dallas, TX, 18 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Larry enlisted in the US Navy just a few days prior to his 18th birthday in 1947 served 20 years active duty, transferred to the naval reserve in August 1967 and retired in 1978. He served in the Korean War and in the naval blockade of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He served on the USS Lexington. Larry’s passions were the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and square dancing. Larry served for nearly 30 years in the Oakland and Reno temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Larry was dependable, a loyal friend and his word was his bond. He served faithfully to the end of his life and completed his assigned tasks on the Monday prior to his passing. He will be remembered for his dedication
and devotion to duty. He will be missed.

Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 411 North Saliman Carson City on Monday, February 13 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the Northern Nevada Veterans Military Cemetery in Fernley, NV at 1:30 pm.
