Jill M. Speckmann

March 18, 1969 - October 7, 2022

Jill Speckmann, 53, of Gardnerville passed away peacefully on October 07, 2022 from congestive heart failure. Even though a failing heart took her away from this world, Jill’s loving heart left a beacon of light for all in the community.

Jill was born on March 18, 1969 in San Diego and grew up in the area until the age of 10. Her family moved to Harrison Arkansas then to Dallas Texas. In 2017 she, along with her sister and family, moved to Gardnerville NV, a town of family and friends she loved.

Jill is now reunited with her predeceased parents Thomas & Marilyn Speckmann of Dallas, TX, brother Jeff Speckmann, and all her grandparents from California. She is survived by her sister (“Best sister in the whole wide world”) Laurie Moon and husband Richard Moon of Gardnerville NV, nephew Thomas Moon from Pasadena CA,Theresa (Aunt Tese) and Uncle Kevin Tierney from Gardnerville NV, Aunts Judi and Barbie and Uncle Steve from Sun City, CA, Uncle John Speckmann from Bend OR, and several cousins. Jill also leaves behind her life long friend (sis) Sandi Hinojosa of Dallas TX and Stephen “Sparky” Magare, her fiancé from Carson City, NV.

We will celebrate the love and life of our beautiful Jill on Monday, November 7th from 5pm to 7pm at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center (main hall) at 1329 Waterloo Ln. Please dress casual and if you have something with roses on it Jill would love that, as she LOVED roses.

Jill touched all who met her. Her real passion was working with the preschoolers at Sunshine and Rainbows in Gardnerville and Allie and Friends in Minden. Those in the community may have seen Jill when she worked at the C.O.D. Casino never missing a day on the 7am to 11am shift.

Her most proud accomplishments were her three gold medals competing in the Special Olympics for swimming and bowling.

Jill’s favorite things include:
Angels, roses, Joan Jet (3 times), Aerosmith (3 times), Hawaiian pizza, horror movies, golden oldies music, karaoke, going to the movies and having her popcorn and Coke Zero (LARGE and refills!), her sweet kitty Mesha, Starbucks, Shirley Temples, Girls Night Out playing trivia at Wa She Shu, LARGE DQ Blizzards, amusement parks, the colors pink and purple.

Jill will always be remembered for her genuine love and care for babies, animals, friends and family. She will always hold a special place in our hearts.
