Dorothy “Dottie” J. Swingrover

May 22, 2021

Dorothy J. Swingrover, born June 1941 to Charles and Dorothy Ridgley and the younger sister of Charles Ridgley Jr. passed away with immediate family members at her side on May 22, 2021 in Gardnerville, NV; her battle with Myotonic Dystrophy finally over.

Dottie, as she was affectionately known to friends was a graduate of Long Beach State where she met her one true love Melvin and were married in February, 1964. Dottie ran the hospital laboratory on Catalina Island as a Medical Technologist. Her life was full of adventure, from moving to tiny Catalina Island with her young family in 1970, to retiring in Minden, Nevada 27 years later to enjoy the mountainous glory of the Carson Valley. Dottie’s love of dance, art, reading and crafting kept her busy when family and work needs were complete. She had annual camping trips with groups of friends as well as being a member of a Sam’s Club chapter. Travel to France, Canada, England and Israel are other highlights of travel she did with her husband and children. She was an active member of her church on Catalina as well as in Gardnerville for as long as she was able to attend. When she could no longer attend, she volunteered as an online Missionary with Global Media Outreach where she could meet people at their point of need.

Dottie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Mel, her two children Greg Swingrover and Dana Paull, her daughter-in-law Richel, her son-in-law Jim and her 3 Grand Children Brittney, Ethan (his wife Gabby) and Jessica. Dottie had a real love for family as she remained in touch with many nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Dottie will be at Calvary Chapel Carson Valley at 2:00 pm on July 10th, 2021. The address to attend is 1004 Dresslerville Rd, Gardnerville, NV 89460.
