Irene Sato

September 27, 1948 -

Irene Sato was born in Santa Monica, California on September 27, 1948 to Manuel and Marie Valenzuela. She grew up in Santa Monica, graduating in 1967 from Santa Monica High School.

Irene spent much of her childhood with her family and friends enjoying family get togethers, local activities and attractions in the area. Irene met her future husband and on May 27, 1967 she married Hideharu Calvin Sato. Irene and Cal moved to Livermore, California in 1967, where
she became a homemaker enjoying married life. They adopted their son Gregory Sato, and they began traveling, enjoying new friends and getting very much involved with all of the activities of their lives. Car Clubs, kid’s activities, sitting for children of friends and in particular, Irene began caring for a handicapped girl for the next 20 years. Irene had such a knack for making life-long friends, these friends will always remember her loving, caring
and enjoyable times spent together.

Irene and Cal then moved to Douglas County, Nevada in 2002 into a new home the designed to accommodate their lifestyle. Many of Irene’s new neighbors and friends were now blessed with her “Keep Cool”, happy outlook on life.

Irene loved collecting everything involving “SNOOPY”, carousel horses and demitasse spoons from our travels. She loved to cook, sew and crochet. Irene loved making and donating many lap blankets to cancer patients at the Oncology department of Carson Tahoe Health.

Irene is predeceased by our son Gregory, her mother Marie and Father Manuel.

Irene is survived by her Husband Cal, granddaughter Shena Sato, sisters Gloria Cox and Alice Braun, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. In particular her great niece Ashley Rodney-Keating. Ashley was always in constant contact with Irene and in Irene’s final
days she was continually by her side. Irene was very fond of Ashley and her family.

Irene- we will love you forever.

A Celebration of Life is planned for 11:00am on Monday August 9th at Fitzhenry’s Funeral Home 3945 Fairview Dr. Carson City. A Reception will follow at the funeral home at 12:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Ford Foundation-Auburn, Indiana or the Oncology department of Carson Tahoe Health
