Youth Forum is offered
How many times have you heard youth say, “But there isn’t anything to do here”?
Whether you believe that to be true or not, youth do face challenges to keep themselves constructively busy. In order to address these concerns, a teen and adult Vision Team is being formed.
Douglas County, through the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and the Partnership of Community Resources, has been awarded a grant from National 4-H to better provide youth opportunities. A four-member team has been chosen as the project’s Youth Action Team.
Those members are Bob Koreski, youth development coordinator, Tanya Hill, executive director for the partnership, and two students, Nikki Clark, Carson Valley Middle School, and Jonathan Sherwood, Douglas County High School.
The Douglas County Youth Action Team cordially invites both interested teens and adults to attend the Youth forum to discuss the needs of teens in Douglas County.
Focus areas will include: arts and music, transportation, recreation and vocation and business opportunities. If you are interested in participating in a collaborative effort to provide opportunities for youth, attend the forum at Sharkey’s on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
