WNCC Douglas offers new traffic safety school
Western Nevada Community College, Douglas announces its new traffic safety school, a licensed educational course in traffic safety and driver improvement. The course is offered Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Thursday, Nov. 18, from 7 to 10 p.m., and Friday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 10 p.m. or Saturday, Dec. 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The course curriculum consists of interesting and motivational presentations that are designed to help students develop and maintain safe driving habits. Under Nevada law, a person may attend one licensed traffic safety school for credit during a 12-month period. Successful completion of the course allows the driver to be eligible for a reduction of up to three demerit points against his/her driving record.
In addition, some courts offer special option programs for traffic violations that include completion of a licensed traffic safety school course. The WNCC Nevada Traffic Safety School will now provide a Department of Motor Vehicles licensed course located in Douglas County. The course is also available to students who just want to improve their driving skills.
Students need to register at least five working days prior to the class date at WNCC Douglas, 1680 Bently Parkway South, Minden. This non-credit class is being offered through the WNCC Douglas County Community Services Division. For more information, call 782-2413.
