Wine tastings set
The Villa Gigli Collection, Trattoria and Galleria in Markleeville will present its popular wine-tasting, “Wine Country in the High Country” every Sunday, 2-5 p.m., for the season.
According to Ruggero Gigli, who with his wife Gina operates the bistro at 145 Hot Springs Road, the wine-tastings drew crowds last year.
Day-trippers, he said, may enjoy an educational and tasty stop in the Markleeville and Grover Hot Springs area.
A different winery will be featured each Sunday. The winemaker’s tasting notes describing the vineyards, vintages, winemaking, description of flavors and aromas and menu suggestions.
The price for three tastes and wine and focaccia is $3 and upon purchase of wine, the $3 is refunded. Decorating the tasting table are wine-themed etchings, posters and masks, and music is selected to complement the wine.
