William Robert ‘Hawkeye’ Hendricks
A memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Crossroads Nazarene Church in Gardnerville for Smith Valley resident William Robert “Hawkeye” Hendricks, 74, who died Jan. 17, 2011, at his home. Pastor Bill Powers is officiating at the service.
Born Nov. 7, 1936, in Hollywood, Calif., to Mark and Mildred (Reagan) Hendricks, he graduated from Van Nuys High School, in Van Nuys, Calif.
He married Patricia Maxine Chamberlain in Van Nuys on Oct. 29, 1955. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force.
He has lived the past 19 years in Smith Valley coming from Simi Valley, Calif. He worked as a glazier for over 25 years and also 15 years as a construction contractor. He was a member of the Glazier Union Local 636.
He enjoyed falconry, fishing and was an avid hunter. He remodeled many homes in the valley and was known as as “Mr. Fix It.”
Mr. Hendricks was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy Ellen Hendricks and a daughter Linda Ellen Hendricks.
Mr. Hendricks is survived by his wife of 55 years Patricia; sons, William Scott Hendricks and Todd Allan Hendricks; brother James Hendricks; sister Jane Chavez; grandchildren Christopher, Hunter and Cainen; great-grandson Alexander Scott Hendricks. Arrangements and Cremation are under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington. Memorial donations may be made in Hendricks’ name to the Boys & Girls Club of Mason Valley, 124 North Main St., Yerington, NV 89447.
