Weather forces UNR graduation ceremonies indoors
Due to inclement weather conditions, all University of Nevada, Reno commencement ceremonies, including today, Friday and Saturday, have been moved to Lawlor Events Center.
The university will confer 3,201 degrees, the largest amount of degrees conferred in one semester. The commencement exercises will take place over four ceremonies in three days.
Each ceremony focuses on particular colleges, and both undergraduate and graduate degrees for each of those colleges will be granted.
- 4:45 p.m. Thursday: Reynolds School of Journalism, College of Liberal Arts and Orvis School of Nursing
- 8 a.m. Friday: College of Business, Division of Health Sciences (Social Work) and School of Medicine (Speech Pathology)
- 4:45 p.m. Friday: College of Agriculture, Biotechnology & Natural Resources, School of Community Health Sciences and College of Education
- 8 a.m. Saturday: College of Engineering and College of Science
On Monday, Western Nevada College will celebrate a record 617 graduates during its commencement ceremony at the Marv Teixeira Pavilion in Carson City.
The 2019 graduating class will receive 651 degrees and certificates of achievement.
Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak and Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford will address WNC’s graduating class during its commencement ceremony.
Marv Teixeira Pavilion is located in Mills Park at 111 East William Street on U.S. Highway 50. Doors open at 9 a.m. for seating, with the ceremony starting at 10 a.m.
