Washoe seniors set activities
The Washoe Tribe Senior Center Site Council has several activities planned in the next few weeks.
On Saturday, May 27, a yard sale will be held at the senior center, 801 Peoples Way, Dresslerville Community. The sale will be offered from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On Wednesday, May 31, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., a free statewide program hosted by the Nevada Center for Ethics and Health Policy at the University of Nevada, Reno will be held.
The program is being held in conjunction with “It’s OK to Talk About Death Day,” proclaimed by Gov. Kenny Guinn to encourage residents to be fully aware of end-of-life issues and the needs of dying people and their families.
A team of volunteer professionals, from lawyers to health-care providers, will help attendees complete living wills at no charge and answer questions about death and dying.
Volunteers will provide packets will information regarding end of life, trusts, wills and other issues. The public is invited.
On Saturday, June 10, a Carson Valley Days Card Game is planned after the parade. Participants should take their own change and a favorite dish to share. Coffee and punch will be provided.
On Saturday, June 17, the seniors will take a road trip to to Denio’s Flea Market n Roseville, Calif. Trip participants will meet at the senior center at 8 a.m. There is limited seating, so those wishing to go should contact Corinne Moore for more information at 265-6426.
