Veterans representative at senior center Tuesday

Staff Reports

The Nevada Office of Veterans Services Veterans Outreach ROVER Program will visit Douglas County on Tuesday.

Veterans and family members will be able to meet with a Veterans Service Officer 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Douglas County Senior Center to learn about benefits and services they may be eligible for, but unaware of.

This visit is usually by appointment only, however, there are still times available for next week.

“Appointments in Douglas County fill up quickly and we are no longer able to see walk-ins at this time due to the level of response,” says program supervisor, Scott Fincher. “With help from the community, the word has been getting out and due to the overflow of walk-ins, we’ve had to make the change to by appointment only in Douglas County, and we are making future dates known so appointments can be made in advance.”

To schedule an advanced appointment, contact Pamela (775) 688-1653 ext. 6 or Barbara at (775) 321-4880.

Veterans are advised to bring a copy of their DD-214 discharge document and/or current VA paperwork. If the claim involves their dependents, veterans should bring marriage and/or birth certificates as well as social security numbers of their dependents.

The senior center is located at 2300 Meadow Lane in Gardnerville.
