Valley Christian Fellowship to worship at Assembly of God Church

by Leo Kruger

You may have noticed what some people have called the army of people painting and working on the Assembly of God building on Tillman Lane. Valley Christian Fellowship is now sharing the building with the Assembly of God. Our desire is to put more money and effort into the needs of the community than into a building.

Valley Christian Fellowship started in November of 1990 in the wedding chapel of the Carson Valley Inn. After quickly growing out of there, we moved to a building in the industrial park in August of 1991, where we have been until now. This was a nice building, but it was very hard to find. Many people would say, “I have heard of your church, but where are you?”

It was also very expensive to rent.

This move is designed to help both congregations focus more on the purpose of the church. To share the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ with the people of this area and abroad through missions such as Albania, Mexico, Indian, Russia and other countries. We want to see people learn what the Bible says about our everyday lives and how we can practically apply it through teaching and ministry training.

We have a strong emphasis on worship. We believe that worship is essential for a healthy spiritual life. Our desire is to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit however and wherever that takes us. Simply to do His will in everything.

We are especially excited about our children’s ministries. There is something for every age group from babies to adults. Our children have become one of our major ministries. All of our nursery and children’s classrooms are professionally cleaned and sanitized each and every week. The curriculum is the best we can find and the teachers’ desire is to truly minister to your children.

Several ministries or services are available to choose from – women’s meetings, men’s meetings, several home groups throughout the Valley. We have a junior high youth group that meets twice a week on Monday and Thursday, and the senior high group meets once a week on Monday. A food ministry will begin soon with substantial resources. We will need volunteers and help with this outreach to the needy families of this community. If you would be interested in helping or are in need of food, call us.

The list of service times will be Valley Christian Fellowship will meet at 9 a.m. on Sunday and 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The Assembly of God will meet at 11 a.m. Sunday and again at 6 p.m. We are looking forward to this group effort to minister to our community. Valley Christian Fellowship’s first service at the church will be tomorrow, Sept. 5.
