Vacation Bible Schools at High Sierra, St. Gall Church

Staff reports

High Sierra Fellowship will hold its second annual Vacation Bible School July 31 through Aug. 4, at 1516 Highway 395 in the Haas Center, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for children ages 5 to 12 years old.

High Sierra Fellowship invites children to a “PARTY,” the theme for Vacation Bible School. The party theme is centered on celebrating God’s gift of salvation.

“Students will discover and experience the many and unique gifts God gives His children. Each day, the children will realize God’s great love for them in a significant way and will recognize that He loves and cares for them every day. Students will identify these wonderful gifts through teachings on Praise, Acceptance, Relationships, Tomorrow and You. These topics make up the acronym PARTY,” said organizer William Harvey.

The week-long program will close with a Friday finale that parents are invited to attend. It will feature a slide show of the week’s events and a raffle drawing. Raffle prizes were donated by businesses, including Ace Hardware, Burger King, Carson Valley Swim Center, Dairy Queen, Denny’s, Douglas Fabrication, Especially for You, McDonald’s, Nik-N-Willie’s Pizza, Nevada Sport Co. and Video Maniacs. The grand prize will be two admissions donated by Wild Island Water Park in Sparks.

Children can earn raffle tickets all week long through attendance and for each friend who is in attendance, as well as for pre-registering. Registration will continue throughout VBS.

For more information, call William or Hollie Harvey at 782-7486 or 782-8295.

St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville will hold Vacation Bible School Aug. 7-11.

The “Passport to the Holy Land” journey will be held at Minden Park from 10 a.m. until noon and is for children who are entering first through sixth grade. Each day, the children will have the opportunity to “travel” to different cities in Jesus’ life and will experience first hand what it would have been like to be alive when Jesus walked the Earth.

The program costs $20 per family, and all participants must register by Thursday, Aug. 3.
