Staff reports

Project Santa Claus is asking for help now through Dec. 8 in providing new and used sweaters, jackets, coats, boots, scarves, hats gloves and winter clothes of all kinds in good condition for all sizes, babies, toddlers, young children, teens, men and women.

Project Santa Claus has clothing barrels available at Sunridge Model Homes, 971 Parkview Drive; Nevada Fitness and Aerobics, 885 Mahogany; and M. Scott Properties, 1657 Highway 395, #102 – all in Minden; R & T Cleaners, 1389 Lampe Drive; Raley’s Supermarket, 1363 Highway 395; Carson Valley Medical Center, 1107 Highway 395 – all in Gardnerville. Clothing from these locations will be gathered on a regular basis.

All clothing items will be distributed to the recipients in the week before Christmas by a group of dedicated volunteers.

Project Santa Claus, in operation since 1988, also attempts to provide an item of new clothing and a new toy for all children of families who qualify through the Douglas County Social Services. For information regarding this program, contact Marilyn Malkmus, director, at 782-4931.
