USDA food distribution set for Nov. 28

The USDA Surplus Food distribution will be Tuesday, Nov. 28 (note special date), at Carson Valley Community Food Closet, in the Hussman Building at 1255 Waterloo Lane near Lampe Park in Gardnerville, from 8 a.m. until noon. This is a one day only distribution for Douglas County recipients.

Among the items available are dehydrated potatoes, apple juice, peanut butter, rice, creamed corn, applesauce, macaroni, salmon and cranberry sauce.

The emergency food assistance is geared to those who are on the food stamp program, seniors and those on Social Security who qualify. Each recipient must present identification, a food voucher and proof of income. There are several areas of qualification.
