Unity Church plans ‘Burning Bowl’ service
On Sunday, Jan. 7, at 10:30 a.m., members and guests of the Unity Church of Today will celebrate the end of 2000 and the start of the new year with the “Burning Bowl” service at the Genoa Town Hall.
This service, which has its roots in antiquity and has been a feature of many cultures, is open to all who wish to cleanse their subconscious minds of all negative thoughts, emotions and patterns of the year past.
This is done by writing them down and burning them; hence, the name “burning bowl” ceremony. Then, drawing on the energy of new beginnings, congregants are invited to write down what they wish to see unfold in their lives during the year 2001.
The service will be led by minister Rev. Dr. Julie Johnson. There will be no 9 a.m. service on this Sunday. All are welcome to attend and need not be members of the church to participate.
For complete details on the church location, coming events, special programs and services, go to the church’s Web site at http://unity.ableweb.net. At the site, visitors will find links to “The Daily Word” publication and other Unity churches.
