Trnity Lutheran sets Vacation Bible School

Staff reports

Trinity Lutheran Church is trying a new approach to Vacation Bible School this summer. Since the Douglas County Schools have changed to year-round schedules, it has become more difficult to arrange a week during the summer that would work for church and neighborhood families.

“This year we are trying a weekend Vacation Bible School to be held Friday, Aug. 1 through Sunday, Aug. 3,” said Debbie Cowan, Vacation Bible School director. “We will meet from 6-8:30 p.m. on Friday evening, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Lunch will be provided on Saturday and Sunday.”

This year’s theme is “Let’s Follow Jesus.”

“Vacation Bible School helps us share God’s love for us through Jesus Christ our Savior with our church and neighborhood families,” Cowan said.

Children who have completed Kindergarten though adults are invited to be a part of this special weekend of crafts, Bible stories, music, recreation and snacks. Child care will be provided for children under kindergarten age whose parents are attending the adult class.

Trinity Lutheran Church is located at the corner of Douglas and Mill streets in Gardnerville, off Highway 395.

There will be a suggested donation of $5 per student to help cover the cost of materials. For other information about VBS or to register, call the church office at 782-8153.
