Topaz Sagehens extend outreach to local churches

Staff Reports

The Topaz Sagehens, a women’s organization that raises funds for nonprofit organizations in their community, and provides scholarships to Douglas High School students, recently expanded their philanthropic reach.

The Sagehens donated monetarily to three local churches to help provide necessities for their food closets.

The churches that received donations were the Topaz Community Open Bible Church, Topaz Ranch Estates Church and Topaz Community Church.

All of the churches will accept donations and are in place to help those in need in the southern part of Douglas County.

People in need of assistance from any of the food closets do not have to be members of the church.

The Carson Valley Community Food Closet also helps support the TRE-based food closets. They also provide assistance at the community center 1-4 p.m. every Tuesday.

For more information on the churches, call them directly.

The Topaz Sagehens meet 1 p.m. every third Wednesday of the month at the TRE community center.

The group does not meet June-August.
