Topaz Lake VFD sets Labor Day barbecue

Staff Reports

The Topaz Lake Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor its 31st annual fund riser barbecue on Sept. 6, noon to 6 p.m.

700 pounds of meat prepared with spices will be barbecued in a pit the night before the event.

“The meat comes out juicy and tender and is slice by our servers as the guests come through the buffet line,” said Bob Gable, Topaz Lake Volunteer Fire Department chief.

Country music will be provided by the Doc Holiday Band.

There will be raffles and an auction. The auction features a slot machine donated by the Topaz Lodge.

There will be a special drawing for $500 in cash and other prizes.

The meal will cost $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Raffle tickets and the special drawing tickets will cost $1 each.
