Tonopah low could bring new snow

A Tonopah low has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a winter storm watch for Sunday.

Snow accumulations of 3-6 inches, with a possibility of up to 8 inches in places are possible for the eastern Sierra slope from Reno to Hawthorne.

Friday night saw 1.4 inches of rain fall north of Genoa. Kirkwood Ski Resort reported 4 inches of new snow.

A 61 mph wind gust was clocked northwest of Gardnerville on Friday morning. Minden-Tahoe Airport reported a 60 mph gust recorded at 11:27 a.m.

The high winds caused power outages that effected nearly 200 customers on Friday afternoon in the Foothill area, according to NV Energy.
