Thunderstorm brings brief shower

A lightning strike that lit up the sky above Jacks Valley Road preceded a thunderstorm on Saturday afternoon.
There were no immediate reports of fire or damage from the strike which was north of Genoa in the Carson Range.
A storm system coming in from the south is expected to bring a chance of snow to the high Sierra tonight and Sunday.
The National Weather Service is recommending hiker and campers be prepared for winter conditions above 9,500 feet.
Sonora and Tioga passes maybe affected by snow-covered roads. The heaviest precipitation is expected south of Alpine County.
