The R-C Morning Report for Sept. 30

A red flag warning for gusty winds and low humidity starts out 11 a.m. today. Expect southwest winds gusting to 40 mph. Try not to do anything that causes a spark in the wildland today.

I'm in Denver this morning, due to fly into Reno late tonight. I toyed with the idea of getting an earlier flight, but missing the wind isn't something I'm going to mind.

Fire restrictions on most federal lands were lifted this morning. That's the sort of thing that happens just before a conflagration, so be careful with fire out there.

Continuing with the fire, flying and wind scheme, East Fork Gallery's annual Scarecrow Festival is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Heritage Park in Gardnerville. They're doing a whole fall themed thing with Main St. Gardnerville, so there will be more to do than to stuff scarecrows. Oh, and the reference … Wizard of Oz.
