The R-C Morning Report for Oct. 3
October 3, 2016
Genoa, Nev. — We'll be following up this morning on the cause of the Frontage Fire that claimed two homes and posed a real threat to Ruhenstroth on Sunday. Keeping that fire from hopping the highway and burning down the community required a remarkable effort by firefighters.
I'm a little disappointed it's not colder out this morning. I'm reading 35 degrees on the western bench, which is actually a little cooler than the bottomlands. The DRI gauge near the river shows 36 degrees. A fifth of an inch of rain fell there last night.
The road temperature at the top of Kingsbury Grade is showing 37 degrees, so that commute shouldn't be too slick this morning. You've got to go to Mount Rose Highway to find any road controls in Western Nevada. We've got plenty of fall and winter to go without rushing it.
Wear a little something extra today, because the high's only going to 57 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The winds will be out of the west 5-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph. We might see more showers tonight.
