Genoa, Nev. — Douglas County Planning Commissioners are starting their two-day trek through the master plan text 1 p.m. today. The agenda is posted at under agendas and minutes. You can call in comments at 783-6088. They continue 1 p.m. Wednesday with whatever they didn’t get through today.

Slightly more than 23 percent of Douglas County registered voters have already cast a ballot in the 2020 General Election. The second day of in-person voting brought that number up to 1,751, which a total of 7,224 mailed ballots have been accepted by the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office.

By comparison, in 2016 nearly 60 percent of the county’s voters either went to the polls early or cast an absentee ballot, voting by mail. That left 34.5 percent to vote on Election Day. 

The roving ballot box will be at the Topaz Ranch Estates Community Center 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at the Fish Springs Fire Station 3-6 p.m. today. You can also drop off your ballot at the Election Tent in Minden or the Community Center in Gardnerville 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.

Douglas had five new coronavirus cases and two recoveries bringing the county to 42 active cases, according to Carson City Health and Human Services. That’s the highest number since Aug. 9. For more info, visit

Today expect sunny skies and a high near 77 degrees, with the wind out of the north at 5 mph. Tonight’s low in Minden is forecast to be 38 degrees.
