The May 13 R-C Morning Report
Genoa, Nev. — Unless you’re a bicycling fan, it might be a good idea to avoid parts of Alpine and El Dorado counties this afternoon. The Amgen Tour of California will travel 88 over Carson Pass and then 89 from Picketts Junction to Meyers and then down Pioneer Trail to Heavenly. The tour does not pass through Nevada this year.
Last week was the first Friday Whittell High students have attended in a while. The school, which typically is held four days a week, will also meet on May 17 and June 7 in order to make up for the snow days. All of the other county’s schools will be able to make up their time. June 6 is the last day for Valley schools. June 20 is the last day for Whittell and Zephyr Cove students.
Speaking of snow, we could see snow levels down to 6,000 feet later this week with a chance of showers on Thursday, according to a statement issued by the Weather Service.
Expect today to be sunny and warm with the high temperature hitting 80 degrees and the wind out of the southwest, 5-10 mph, gusting to 20 mph.
