The forecast temperature in Carson Valley will come closest to breaking a record on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The forecast high temperature for Tuesday is 99 degrees, coming close to breaking a 100-degree record set in 2001.
Temperatures are predicted to hit the upper 90s on Monday through Wednesday, according to forecasters.
The record for Monday was 100 degrees set in 1985, while Wednesday’s record was 102 degrees set in 1961.
“The hottest day overall is still most likely to be Tuesday, closely followed by Wednesday, with highs near or above 100 degrees across most Western Nevada valleys,” forecasters said.
While temperatures won’t approach historic levels, forecasters suggest taking basic precautions, including drinking plenty of water, limit strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon and not leaving children or pets in vehicles unattended even for short periods of time.
