Tea party to benefit City of Refuge
Women of all ages – especially little girls who like to dress up – are invited to a tea party at Lampe Park May 10.
The tea luncheon will benefit the City of Refuge, a facility which offers a home to unwed pregnant women.
Tickets are $15 and are available at a sales table in front of Gorman’s Market every weekend and through members of the Soroptimist International of Carson Valley.
According to organizers Carmen Valdez and Cynette Eriksen, women who attend are encouraged to wear tea-length dresses or other “tea party” attire.
Anyone with costumes and dress-up accessories that young girls may play with at the event are asked to lend items for the party. Teddy bears to play with would be nice, too.
Croquet games, maypole dances, drawings and pictures of participants are also planned.
For $50, area businesses may sponsor a “tea set,” a table for for tea party-goers. Signs will be placed on tables indicating who are sponsors at the three separate tea parties planned – in Gardnerville May 10, Carson City May 24, and in Reno sometime in the first two weeks of June.
Eriksen said tickets to the tea party might make a nice Mother’s Day gift from dad to his wife and his daughters.
On the menu will be open face sandwiches, scones and tea cakes.
The tea parties are sponsored by Silver Dollar Cakes and Catering of Carson City. For more information, call 885-2930.
