Suspect killed in Meyers had record in Carson City
A man wanted for armed robbery was killed in a shootout with authorities at Lake Tahoe on Monday.
Billy Jo Johnson, 34, was shooting from the back of a motorcycle at police on Monday afternoon when he rode into Meyers at 1 p.m.
South Lake Tahoe Police began the pursuit at Pickett’s Junction in Hope Valley and chased Johnson over Luther Pass.
According to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson was shot and killed in Meyers where the chase ended.
Johnson had a felony warrant out for his arrest for robbery with a firearm.
According to the Nevada Department of Corrections, Johnson was sentenced to 4-10 years in prison in April 2011 from a Carson City court.
He was paroled in 2015 after serving four years.
