Speaker set for Fly Casters meeting
Patrick Solberger of the Nevada Department of Wildlife and the area fishery biologist will be guest speaker at the High Sierra Fly Casters meeting on Wednesday, June 21. His topic will be “Fish Sampling Survey on the East Walker River,” presented at 7 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Fly-tying demonstrations will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The club’s library of fly fishing books and videotapes will be available for members. Those who wish to improve their fishing skills or just get a refresher may borrow the material. People may donate books or videos, according to Jack Kowalski, librarian. The club is always looking for new materials.
The High Sierra Fly Casters is a non-profit, family-oriented organization and open to all ages, children, women and men. Members assist in teaching and promoting fly fishing and community service to benefit all. The goal of the club is to promote fly-fishing and to encourage and support proper management of all fisheries in the Carson Valley area – whether the fishing is fished with fly or otherwise.
