Southerland in museum lecture series
Cindy Southerland, curator of collections at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center, will portray Annie Hudnutt Martin at the Hannah Clapp Lecture Series at the Nevada State Library in Carson City on Wednesday, April 5.
Annie Martin was an early Carson City teacher who also owned and operated the Carson Morning News, played the organ at the First Presbyterian Church for 40 years and was the first woman assayer in charge of a government mint in the United States.
The lecture series is a part of the Nevada Women’s History Project. There will be light refreshments at 5:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 5:45 p.m. For information, contact Cherry Jones, 267-3410.
