SOS offers family day, orchids for mothers
Family Day will be observed at both 8:30 and 11 a.m. services at Shepherd of the Sierra on Sunday morning, Mother’s Day.
Since mothers often respond to the question, “What would you like for Mother’s Day?” by saying, “I’d like for the whole family to attend church together!” most churches – Shepherd of the Sierra included – anticipate a larger than usual attendance at worship services this Sunday.
The pastor’s message for the morning will center about the Christian family, based on Psalm 68:8 and titled, “What’s Good About Your Home?” As always, the children’s message will relate to the theme for the day and is titled, “The Magic of Your Family.”
The music for the day, as always, will be a blend of well-known older hymns and contemporary praise songs focusing on the joy of being members of both human families and the family of God.
Each mother attending will be given a special gift by Shepherd of the Sierra as a memento of the service.
For more information about Mother’s Day at SOS or about the program of the church in general, call 267-3680. Everyone is welcome at Shepherd of the Sierra, located just north of the Target/Home Depot Complex on the west side of Highway 395. The American and Christian flags fly high above the youth/education facility.
E.D. Thyr is pastor of Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church.
