Soroptimists plan beer and wine tasting at Seirra Nevada Golf Ranch

The Soroptimist International of Carson Valley will hold the fifth Savor the Flavor Wine and Microbrew Tasting Feb. 26, with plenty of fine wines, beer and foods to nibble.

According to Soroptimist member Donna Lee, for the second year the event will be held at Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch, which offers spacious and tastefully decorated rooms.

The Wine and Microbrew Tasting will feature products carried by Tony Little of Southern Wine and Spirit of Nevada, Capital Beverage, Reno Home Brewer and Crown Beverages. In addition, a wide assortment of appetizers entrees and desserts will be provided by local restaurants.

The event’s mood, she said, will be set by the guitar music of the Valley’s own George Hanepen.

All people who purchase a ticket for the Wine and Microbrew Tasting will have the opportunity to win a door prize, and ticket purchasers need not be present to win.

An auction of on a wide assortment of gifts, from building materials to homemade goodies.

As in 1999, the proceeds of the baskets will be donated to the Family Support Council for the Women’s Shelter Fund. Last year, the basket auction raised more than $3,000.

Soroptimist members are selling Megabucks tickets before and during the event. The lucky winner will be entitled to 100 spins of Carson Valley Inn’s Megabucks wheel, and could potentially win thousands even millions, of dollars.
