Soroptimists offer wine and microbrew tasting, featuring chefs’ creations

Chefs from area restaurants will offer up their finest for the Soroptimist International of Carson Valley’s annual Savor the Flavor Wine and Microbrew Tasting Feb. 26.

Tasty dishes will be provided by Carson Valley Inn, David Walley’s, Genoa Lakes’ Riverbend Grille, Hard Rock Cafe at Harveys, Inn Cognito, JT Basque Bar and Dining Room, Petrello’s, Thunder Canyon, Two Guys from Italy, Planet Hollywood, Mo and Sluggo’s, Port-a-Subs, Papa Murphy’s and Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch.

“It’s always nice to help the community,” explained Frank Petrello of Petrello’s in Minden.

“That’s what it’s all about,” said Parry Freeman of the Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch. “We want to be part of the community.”

Food, wine and microbrewed beer will be sampled and displayed at booths spaced around the lodge at Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch, which is offering its spacious rooms for the second year in a row, said Soroptimist member Donna Lee.

Booths will be placed so that wines that complement certain foods will be near each other. The tasting will be held from 6 to 9 p.m.

The event will feature products from Tony King of Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada, Capital Beverage, Reno Home Brewer and Crown Beverages.

Proceeds go to the many Soroptimist programs that the support women, children and families in the Carson Valley.
