Soroptimist International recognizes student achievers
Soroptimist International Carson Valley continued its long-standing tradition of service to the community, and honored young people at a luncheon Tuesday at the Carson Valley Inn.
During the luncheon, student achievers for the 2012-2013 school year were recognized.
Student achievers are nominated by high school teachers, counselors or administrators. Recipients are then chosen by the Soroptimist Program Services Committee.
The following young people were recognized for their hard work, dedication and commitment to overcoming challenges: from Douglas High School, Andrea Navarro, Anthony Araujo, Payton-Baker Wright, Ian Kendrick, Dylan Horning, Brae Gonzales and Gabriela Chavira, and from Sierra Lutheran High School, Taylor Pippin.
Soroptimist International Carson Valley is comprised of professional businesswomen in management and leadership roles in the community, as well as women who want to help improve the lives of women and children.
The club has worked in this community furthering growth, development and success of women and children for the past 40 years.
The club produces annual fundraisers such as the Savor the Flavor Wine Tasting and the popular Carson Valley Days buttons to raise funds to grant awards such as this.
