Soroptimist International of Carson Valley continued its long standing tradition of service to the community and honored student achievers for the 2013-14 school year at on April 15 luncheon at Carson Valley Inn.

Student achievers are nominated by high school teachers, counselors or administrators, then chosen by the Soroptimist Education Committee.

The following Douglas High School students were recognized for their hard work, dedication and commitment to overcoming challenges; Hayden Linn, Paul Martinez, Jr., Dylan Clark, Joey Apone, Ahnica Dolgin and Luke Romero.

Soroptimist International of Carson Valley is comprised of professional businesswomen in management and leadership roles in the community. The club has worked in the community furthering the growth, development and success of women and children for the past 41 years. The club produces annual fundraisers such as the Savor the Flavor wine tasting and Carson Valley Days buttons to raise funds to grant scholarships such as this.
