Soroptimist event will feature fine wines, beer, food
A variety of wines and beers and a wide assortment of appetizers, entrees and desserts provided by area restaurants will satistfy the appetites of Carson Valley residents and guests at a special event next weekend.
The fifth annual Soroptimist International of Carson Valley “Savor the Flavor” Wine and Microbrew Tasting is set for Feb. 24, 6-9 p.m., at Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch.
Guests will have an opportunity to win a door prize and purchase tickets for the chance to spin the Megabucks wheel at the Carson Valley Inn.
They may also bid on a themed gift baskets ranging from affordable to “high end,” according to Soroptimist publicity chairperson Cheri Johnson.
Proceeds from the sale of baskets will go to the Family Support Council’s Women’s Shelter Fund. Last year, the group raised more than $3,000 on the basket auction, Johnson said, and hopes are high that the figure can be increased at this year’s fund-raiser.
The Soroptimist International of Carson Valley is part of Soroptimist International, a worldwide non-profit corporation whose membership is made up of business and professional women. The Valley club’s fund-raising events help support environmental, health and educational projects within the community.
