Sierra Nevada Republican Women to hear Dean Heller
Secretary of State Dean Heller will speak at the Sierra Nevada Republican Women’s Club lunch at the Carson Valley Country Club Feb. 11, 11:45 a.m.
Everyone is invited. Heller will speak on campaign finance reform. He has served as Nevada Secretary of State since 1994. He had represented Carson City in the Nevada Legislature for two terms and served as Deputy State Treasurer.
He was a senior consultant for commercial banking with Bank of America and an institutional stockbroker and broker-trader on the Pacific Stock Exchange.
As Secretary of State, he serves as chief elections officer for the state, filing officer for all corporations in Nevada and regulator of Nevada’s securities, and his office is the registration office for Nevada’s notary publics.
He won the coveted Freedom of Information Award given by the Nevada Press Association, the first elected official to ever earn it.
He serves on a number of other boards, including the State Board of Examiners, State Prison Board, Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, Western Nevada Community College Foundation board, National Association of Secretary of States and Nevada Council on Economic Education. He is also a director of Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs of Western Nevada.
The club will hold its first fund-raiser, a St. Patrick’s Day celebration, March 15, at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Guest speaker is Kenny Guinn. Social hour is 6 p.m. and dinner, 7 p.m. Cost is $20 per person. Everyone is invited.
