Sierra GOP women hear Edwina Prior
Long-time Republican worker Edwina Prior spoke to more than 60 members of Sierra Nevada Republican Women, a new group organized by a number of Douglas County Republicans with 116 members, at the regular meeting held April 8 at the Carson Valley Country Club.
The group just netted more than $3,700 on its first fund-raiser and will be working with the other group of Republican women on a summer barbeque.
Prior has been a member of the Republican State Board for more than 25 years and has worked in the Republican party since 1962. She chaired the Washoe County Republican Central Committee and also was state chairman for two Bush campaigns.
She spoke highly of State Sen. Lawrence Jacobsen and of his wife Betty, who has long been “Mrs. Republican” to residents of Douglas County. Prior had many amusing stories to illustrate her activities and those of others.
And, she urged every member of Sierra Nevada Republican Women to “get involved” in politics – local, county, state and national.
Monthly meetings are held at the Carson Valley Country Club on the second Wednesday of each month. For information, contact President Susan Jacobsen, 782-0368; First Vice President Jerry Bing, 265-2352; or Second Vice President Sondra Condron, 782-9534; or any member of the group.
