Sheriff’s posse to hold dance
The Douglas County Mounted Posse will hold a fund-raising dance with McClain’s Mobile Music and the County Line Band in July.
The event will include a tack swap and dinner as well as a raffle drawing for prizes.
The even will be held Saturday, July 25, at the Douglas County fairgrounds pavilion, with the tack swap at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and the dance at 7 p.m.
Tickers are $12 for adults, $10 for children, and under 10 are free.
Prizes in the raggle include pet portrait by Carson Valley artist Jan Rollenhagen, two tickets to the National ?Finals Rodeo Dec. 4 and 5 in Las Vegas and a saddle, among other prizes.
Tickets can be purchased at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (see Ed Abrams), Eastern Sierra Feed, Carson Valley Garden and ranch Supple, Clothes Horse, all in Gardnerville; or contact a posse member.
The sheriff’s posse was formed in January 1998 by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, It is a non-profit, volunteer organization that consists of trained police officers and civilians.
All members are given formal training.
The posse will put on other special events this year and do crowd control for July 4th and New Year’s Eve. The posse will also do horse evacuations and horse rescue, search and rescue and perform in parades and take part in contests with other posses.
All donations to the posse are tax-deductible.
