Shedd art on tap at state library
Nevada Landscapes by watercolorist Janice Powell Shedd will be featured at the Nevada State Library and Archives in Carson City from Nov. 6 through Jan. 29, 2001.
Shedd is known for her landscape paintings, which capture the vastness, colors and grandeur of the high desert. Howard Hickson, former director of the Northeastern Nevada Museum, has said of her paintings, “She shows her love of the land through strokes of the brush. The clarity of color will impress exhibition visitors as well as give a feeling of awe for the natural wonders of the Great Basin.”
Shedd has had her work displayed in many galleries, museums and libraries throughout the state, most recently at the Northeastern Nevada Museum in Elko, Washoe Medical Center in Reno and Sugar Pine Cove in Carson City.
She is a member of the East Fork Gallery in Gardnerville, open daily, where her work is displayed. Her paintings are in many private collections nationwide and abroad.
The exhibit will be on display in the library, 100 Stewart St., Carson City, 8 a.m to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
An artist’s reception will be held on Nov. 10, 5 to 7 p.m.
