Sertoma Oktoberfest is Sunday

Staff reports

Munich comes to Minden on Sunday, Sept. 24, when the colorful Oktoberfest is once again imported to Carson Valley by the Sertoma Club. Genuine German cuisine, live Bavarian “biergarten” music and plenty of cold beer and beverages of all sorts are on tap for all, said Sertoma spokesperson Bob Cutts.

A bandstand and a big dance floor, ringed with garden canopies, tables and chairs, will set the scene on the green of Minden Park for the fourth annual family festival, which reflects the history of Minden. Events open at 11:30 a.m., with music by Al Gruber and his Bavarian Band beginning at noon.

Admission is free.

“A choice of sausage platters ‘mit’ sauerkraut or sandwiches or casual snacks with a German flair, served all afternoon, should please any palate,” Cutts said.

Service goes on until 5 p.m. Free on-street parking is available all around Minden Park, all day. Proceeds go to charity.
