Staff Reports

The Douglas County Senior Services Center will be conducting the second annual Senior Health Fair, Wednesday, Jan. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Shannon Ballroom at the Carson Valley Inn, 1627 Highway 395, Minden.

“The health fair is designed to provide seniors an expanded awareness of health care providers and services in our community and an opportunity to address individual concerns, first hand, with health care professionals,” said Director Warren Bottino.

Over 30 health care providers will be present to discuss their individual areas of expertise. Services will include medical, legal, insurance, housing, investment, nutrition, community services, residential care, psychiatric care, home oxygen, crisis centers, chiropractic, beauty consulting, vision and a whole lot more.

Services provided will include respiratory spot checking, bone density checks, blood pressure checks, flu shots and nutrition tips, among others, and there will be raffle prizes throughout the day. Additionally, there will be a senior fashion show beginning at 1:30 p.m. with fashions provided by the Side Street Boutique.

“It’s all free. The public is welcome, and although the theme is geared toward the senior community, we want you to bring the whole family,” Bottino said.
