Senior Games needs entrants for 21 events

Twenty-one events are planned for the first Douglas County Senior Games in May.

Participants are welcome to enter the events, which will be held at various locations in the Valley, at Lake Tahoe, in Carson City and Alpine County May 15-23.

Anyone over 49 years of age may take part, according to Kathy Maidlow, senior services supervisor.

Events and their chairmen are badminton, Glen Tierney; bocce, Ellen Goldsmith; bowling, Sue Mohling; croquet, Paul Lockwood; cycling, Keith Hart; Frisbee golf, John Lufano; golf, Fred Maidlow; handball, Ron Gardner; fun walk, Brenda Fisher and Pat Bouharin; horse shoes, Al Baumruck; pool, Carson Senior Center; racquetball, Ron Gardner; racewalk, Brenda Fisher; road race, Brenda Fisher; softball, T. C. Estes; swimming, Kirk Chiapella; table tennis, Steve Thaler; tennis, Scott Chaplain; track and field, Douglas parks and recreation division; volleyball, James Koenig; and basketball, John Parra.

Events will be held in age groups, including 49-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80-84; 85-89 and 90 and up. Register before April 15, and cost is $15; regular fee is $20; and late registration is $30.
