Search and Rescue Team seeks members
Douglas County Search and Rescue Team is accepting applications for new members. The team’s next Training Academy will be held Jan. 11-31, 1999.
The organization is is need of both rescue members and support members. Rescue members are those who are involved in most search and rescue operations and in all aspects of the organization. Support members are those who have administrative or fund-raising expertise and would like to help the organization in those areas, but have no desire to trek into the wilderness.
Search and Rescue conducts various types of searches, including wilderness and downed plane searches. Members also train for many types of rescues, which include high- and low-angle, water, mine and avalanche rescues.
Anyone who would like to apply for membership should call 782-9930 and leave their name, phone number and mailing address, and an information packet and application will be sent to them.
Deadline for return of applications is Dec. 7. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
