Scouts will return to pick up donated food
Carson Valley Cub and Boy Scouts will return to residents’ homes on Saturday, Nov. 18, to collect the bags they distributed last week.
The boys would like people to put non-perishable food items in the bags and place the bags near their front doors by 8:30 a.m. If people did not receive a bag, any market bag will do.
The Cub and Boy Scouts hold the Scouting for Food Drive each year at this time. They have placed 15,000 bags, donated by Raley’s, Scolari’s and Smith’s supermarkets, at front doors throughout the Carson Valley. The Highway Patrol from Reno will once again assist the Scouts by providing a scale to weigh the collected donations.
Founded in 1988, the Carson Valley Community Food Closet, manned solely by volunteers, provides emergency food year-round to those who qualify through Social Services. For information regarding the food closet, call 782-3711, Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 1 to 4 p.m.
